Background to Implementation

issues and needs of the area and Tokyo

  • From the perspective of local residents (beneficiaries), the only way to confirm whether evacuation centers were open or vacant was to "go to the site" or "ask the city," and it was difficult to select an appropriate evacuation destination quickly, which posed a risk of delaying evacuation.
  • Nishitokyo city and Mitaka city (Smart City’s Field & Infrastructure Provider) faced the following problems: “The evacuation shelter maps provided by each municipality are not digitized and are not convenient, ” and "Evacuation information of neighboring municipalities cannot be confirmed centrally because each municipality discloses information on evacuation centers individually."

Service Implementation Overview

"Smart Service" details

  • Vacan, Inc. is a startup that provides "VACAN Maps," a service that detects and visualizes vacancy information of any place in real time.
  • As a disaster prevention tool, we implemented "VACAN Maps", which visualizes evacuation information on a map. The location of evacuation centers and congestion information in the implementation area are visualized on a map to realize optimal evacuation guidance in the event of a disaster. The system also promotes the efficiency of administrative services by reducing the administrative burden of responding to inquiries in the event of a disaster.
